These meditations are composed as a help to individual devotion. Private meditation on the subject of each station is the only prayer necessary to secure the indulgences. These meditations have been written, first of all, for the glory of God. They have also been written to stimulate the personal devotion of those who use them. Their love for Christ will be intensified by the memory of all the sufferings He endured for love of Man. They will be given abundant graces to take up their own cross and to follow Christ.
Finally, these meditations have been written for the cause of peace. Pagan leadership, principles, and practices have led the world down into the valley of the shadow of death. Christian leadership, principles, and practices alone can lead the world upwards to the mountain top of God. Christian prayer and devotion can win the gift of peace for our own nation and for every nation throughout the world today.
