The Love of the Crucified

Item Details:

By Rev. Karl Clemens, C.Ss.R.

Imprimatur, 1933. 723 page book.

The Love of the Crucified is a substantial collection of one hundred carefully ordered meditations on the Passion, Death, Resurrection, and Ascension of Our Lord. Drawing deeply from Sacred Scripture, the Fathers and Doctors of the Church, and the writings of the Saints, Rev. Karl Clemens presents a disciplined method of meditation intended not only to move the heart, but to form the soul.

Each meditation unfolds in a deliberate structure—scriptural foundation, doctrinal explanation, moral application, and concluding affections—guiding the reader to a deeper understanding of the love revealed in Christ’s sufferings and a more faithful response to that love in daily life. Designed for sustained use throughout the year or for more intensive Lenten devotion, this classic work offers abundant material for serious spiritual growth rooted firmly in the mystery of the Cross.

This book is well written and easy to understand. It puts the Sacrifice of Our Blessed Lord into proper perspective. Jesus suffered immensely for all of us, yet the world largely ignores or has actual contempt for Him. I wish I had heard of this wonderful book years ago. So much trash is published today, but The Love of the Crucified at over 700 pages stands out as a clear, bright light in the darkness.

I absolutely love this book. I bought one for myself sometime ago. I recently bought 2 more, one for each of my daughters. My son who is a priest birthday is coming up the first of October, I am going to get a copy for him. I can’t say enough good things about this book. Thank you, thank you. Pax Christi. Shari
